The Killing Of The Cherrywood M.P. by Louise Burfitt-Dons is the second book in the Private Investigator Karen Anderson series. The first being ‘The Missing Activist’, in which we were introduced to Karen and some of the people that appear in this book. They are both British Political thrillers and this book can be read as a standalone as Louise has included some of the history of the characters too. I do think, as always with a series, you get a deeper enjoyment from the story from all of the books.
The Killing Of A Cherrywood M.P brings to the fore the subject of ISIS and Jihadi brides and the far-right politics and views as well as the indoctrination that comes with all this. Louise has again deftly weaved a skilful conspiracy thriller that is jam-packed with twists, turns and misdirection.
An action-packed story about a subject that has been at the fore of British life for a few years now and not just a mainly fictional story. I see echoes of Jo Cox the M.P that was murdered not too far away from my town and feel Louise has again got her subject matter right and made a thought-provoking read and even managed to bring some lighter moments to the story with a little humour running throughout the plot.
I never thought I would say this about a political thriller, but I am eagerly waiting for another P.I Karen Anderson book. Thank you to Sarah Hardy of Books On The Bright Side Publicity for asking me to be a part of this blog tour as well as the first, I have thoroughly enjoyed them.
