Shari Low – What Next? @rararesources @sharilow @BoldwoodBooks #WhatNext #BoldwoodBooks #bookreview

I am so thrilled to say I am part of the book tour for What Next? by Shari Low on behalf of Rachel’s Random Resources. Thanks to both Rachel and Boldwood Books for my copy of the book.

Two weeks, four friends and one big bucket list of secrets to unravel…

Val Murray and her best friend, Josie had been planning a ‘Thelma and Louise’ bucket list style holiday.

Now Josie is gone, and Val needs to make the trip before it’s too late.

But Val doesn’t want to do it alone, so she enlists the help of her nieces, Carly and Carole, and their best pal, Jess, who jump at the chance to join Val on a trip of a lifetime.
What Val doesn’t realise is that Carly, Carole and Jess are all at turning points in their own lives, nursing crushing secrets, lies and betrayals.

Somewhere between Los Angeles, Las Vegas and New York they all hit a crossroads and have to decide if they want to return to the lives they left behind or let Josie’s last wishes take them on a brand new adventure.

When I joined this book tour for What Next by Shari Low, I was unaware it was part of a series of books. I hoped it wouldn’t matter for my enjoyment of this book. I have read Shari Low’s books before and loved them, so I just turned the kindle on and started the book.

Val has lost her best friend Josie, so she decides its time to work on the bucket list they had both made together. In order to do this she drags her nieces, Carly and Carol and their best mate, Jess, along with her to America, to begin working on said list.

Shari Low has made sure that any reader just dipping into this set of books doesn’t get confused. She gives enough background of the characters to make it easily read as a standalone. I am now intrigued to read the others as I loved everything about this book.

One thing I can say about a Shari Low book is that she isn’t scared of bringing serious issues alongside the humour that is a big part of her writing. The issues highlighted in this story are serious ones and she has dealt with them sensitively. Even with these issues running through the story it is still such a fun, emotional read.

Her characters are so well rounded and colourful enough to almost feel like friends as the story develops. I just wanted to know everything about them. I felt everything they went through and put this down to Shari Lows’ skilfull writing. This is another fabulous read from the imagination of a great author who makes me want to read everything she has written…NOW!
