Her carefully crafted life is about to be demolished.

After a difficult childhood, Samantha Williams craves simplicity: jigsaw puzzles, lectures at the library, and the students she adores in her role as an elementary art teacher in the dusty farming community of LaCrosse, Washington.

But when an SUV crashes into the school where she teaches, her entire world is upended. She manages to keep all of the children safe, but her car isn’t so lucky. Oddly, her purse—containing her driver’s license, credit cards, and other identification—is missing from the wreckage.

After authorities discover that the driver in the school accident was shot seconds before the crash, Samantha quickly becomes entangled in increasingly strange events that have her looking over her shoulder.

Samantha has long tried to forget the tragedy of her past, but the twisting maze she discovers between the murdered driver, a deadly secret government project, and an abandoned town can’t be ignored. Those involved are determined to keep these secrets buried, and they’ll use any means necessary to stop Samantha’s search for truth.

Praise for Fallout:

An intriguing story based on events around a part of Washington. Tight timeline with tons of action. Twists and turns that will keep readers engaged and guessing. I enjoyed this book and recommend it to those who want a whisper of romance included with the mystery.”

A suspense novel by a brand new author for me. Fallout sounded so good from the synopsis I just had to read it. I went into this novel with an open mind and just hoped it would be as good as I thought it may be.

Samantha Williams is an art teacher at a local school in LaCrosse, Washington, a town known for very little and that’s how she prefers it. She becomes a local hero the day a SUV smashes into the school. Little does she know this event will lead to the unravelling of everything she knows and she is about to begin a journey into her past that links to terrible events of the present day.

Such an interesting and well written novel! It’s not just suspense, Carrie Stuart Parks brings forensics into the story also. I do enjoy a book that has depth and this has that, in spades. The investigation itself is obviously not just glossed over and this added to the multiple layers of the plot.

The characters are well fleshed out and made me want to know more. Samantha herself was someone who I connected with easily, her confusion of her present situation   had me so intrigued of what would be the next thing to happen. The plot itself was a clever one that flowed nicely for me. It wasn’t all suspense and mystery either, there is even an added dash of romance, which makes it all the more readable.

It does have a few biblical references, which is normal in a book that is also referenced under Christian fiction. What I will say is it doesn’t overpower the story and didn’t take me out of the setting either.

In conclusion, a novel that is intriguing and has me in Samantha’s world throughout. Great mystery and a gripping book. If you love a mystery with a bit of everything try this, It may surprise you!
