‘Blood Trail’ by Tony Park is the second book I have read by this author. I thoroughly enjoyed the previous book from him and was looking forward to seeing if he was keeping his standards up, well I am happy to report he is! Let’s have a look at the synopsis.

Tony Park’s books are all set in South Africa and this book is based in South Africa’s Sabi Sand Game Reserve. This is a thriller that immerses you immediately, Tony Park’s writing is so detailed you can picture yourself amongst this amazing African setting. His characters, of which there are plenty, are all very well developed and play major parts in driving the story forward. This comes across well as they are so lifelike and I found myself connecting with them.
This author is not afraid to bring the big subjects and run with them. He has incorporated the worldwide pandemic of Covid-19 into this thriller. He highlights how the poaching of endangered animals for traditional use and personal greed has increased over the Pandemic. He has interwoven this important issue into his story with such skill to hopefully make a change.
Blood Trail is a gritty, fast-paced and hard-hitting thriller that has been written so well that you go through the rollercoaster of emotions as the story unfolds. Tony Park has, again, brought a book that you don’t want to put away till later…you just want to keep turning the pages and stay in the world he has created. One important thing I can say for sure is if you don’t appreciate the wild magnificent beasts that are in the reserves in Africa and everywhere else when you have finished this book, you have no soul! A book that shows both sides of humanity, the greed and cruelty to the people who fight to save the animals from extinction.
An author to look out for if you enjoy a well-written story with true to life subjects that aren’t shied away from.
