A debut novel that enticed me just with the cover-never mind the book blurb. I always enjoy discovering new authors and love that this is part of my book blogging hobby. V.B Furlong is one such discovery, and I will tell you now. I feel like I have found a little gem!

Set in an English boarding school, Coco has just disappeared with no one knowing what’s happened to her. We are told the story from both the past and present. This helps to build the picture of everyone. I found every single character to be multi dimensional, so very realistic. This added to the suspense and intrigue that it builds throughout the story.
I enjoyed that the first half of the book helped me get to know Coco and the relationship she had with her friends. This gave me the overall view of the group, and after Coco goes missing, things begin to unravel. Everybody has their secrets, and these begin to rise to the surface as the story unfolds. The tension racks up, and I was so eager to find out everything that I was reading and flipping the pages so fast.
The lies, deceit, and secrets make this a perfect YA thriller for anyone who revels in this type of story. V.B Furlong tops it off with enough teenage drama to make it a realistic story that keeps you gripped and immersed in this book.

Author Bio
VB Furlong is a trainee lawyer and writer of young adult novels living in Berkshire, UK. She wrote her first “novel” at ten years old and has not stopped writing since then. As a teenager, VB Furlong wrote for her local paper and an online magazine whilst devouring any book she could find, and in writing for an older teen demographic hopes to instil the same love of books as she had, and still has to this day.
Through her writing she aims to explore many of the issues she faced herself growing up, in the hopes that others facing the same issues feel some solidarity. Her friendships are a huge part of her life and consequently is a major theme in her writing, exploring the way in which we interact with each other, especially in difficult times.
Originally from Mumbles, Swansea, VB Furlong enjoys the sun and the sea, and walking her three dogs across the cliffs. These walks have offered her inspiration for many pieces of writing, including What Happened to Coco.
