Miranda Rijks-The New Neighbour

Mianda Rijk is an author who, as soon as she releases a new book, I need to read it. I don’t look at the cover or the synopsis as I know I will love it anyway. The New Neighbour is no exception! Published by Inkubator Books, which is another reason to read it. This is a psychological thriller that I couldn’t put down.

Miranda Rijks

A small community. A deadly secret.

Until recently, Isobel has always loved The Close. A quiet road of large houses tucked away in the beautiful English countryside, it seemed like the perfect place to live.

Then, six months ago, a young man was killed in a mysterious hit-and-run incident. The police investigated but no one was charged.

It’s left a bad feeling in this little community, a feeling that someone knows more than they are saying.

So when new neighbour Linette arrives, Isobel thinks it’s the perfect chance to make a fresh start, to repair relationships and rebuild her community.

But someone else has a very different plan, and bad things start to happen.

When there’s another death, Isobel realises her home, her marriage, and her family are all in terrible danger. She is certain that what’s happening is connected to the hit-and-run. But how? What really happened on the night of the fatal accident? And above all, who is Linette and what does she really want?

Miranda Rijks again has not disappointed me at all. A fast-paced twisty on the edge of my seat type of book. I was totally hooked from the minute I read the first paragraph. I sped through this because I just couldn’t put it down…at all!

Set in the English countryside, we see what looks like a perfect place to live. A new neighbour, Linette, moves into the close as the community is attempting to recover from a hit and run accident that resulted in the death of Wilson Walker, the son of the family whose house Linette has moved into.

One of the neighbours, Isobel, sees the chance to help fix the community with the arrival of Linette. Then strange things begin to happen and then another death. Isobel begins to wonder if her family is in danger and if the two deaths are connected at all.

As always with a Miranda Rijks thriller, the characters are all so well described. Not every character is going to be likeable, and there are a few in this one that aren’t the nicest. She has the skill of a master storyteller with complex characters, and a plot that you can imagine would actually happen. Her twists are spectacular; they always bring a jaw-dropping conclusion that you don’t normally guess easily

If you are looking for a new author who will have you speed reading to find the answers to the mystery in front of you, pick up a Miranda Rijks thriller…she will blow your socks off.
