Connie Glynn – Undercover Princess |@The_WriteReads|@connieglynn|@penguinplatform|#TheRosewoodChronicles|#ultimateblogtour|

Today I really excited to say I am part of The Rosewood Chronicles blog tours for @The_Writereads. Whom I must thank for my places on the tours and my copies of book 1, Undercover Princess and book 5, Princess Ever After by Connie Glynn

When fairy tale obsessed Lottie Pumpkin starts at the infamous Rosewood Hall, she is not expecting to share a room with the Crown Princess of Maradova, Ellie Wolf. Due to a series of lies and coincidences, 14-year-old Lottie finds herself pretending to be the princess so that Ellie can live a more normal teenage life.

Lottie is thrust into the real world of royalty – a world filled with secrets, intrigue and betrayal. She must do everything she can to help Ellie keep her secret, but with school, the looming Maradovian ball and the mysterious new boy Jamie, she’ll soon discover that reality doesn’t always have the happily ever after you’d expect…

A book aimed at 11 to 14 years old, but one that I personally think any age would enjoy (seeing as 14 was a LOOOOONG time ago for me, I can say this quite easily). A fairytale/fantasy story with a dash of romance added that I really loved. The cover itself is one that I thought gorgeous, and the synopsis called to my age-old love of fairytales.

Connie Glynn is not an author I was aware of before seeing this series, and after reading a few of the books, I am grateful she stopped youtubing to writing this series.

Undercover Princess reminded me of a Disney film, its a good job I quite like them anyway. It is aimed at a younger audience, and that is something I kept to the forefront of my mind when reading this. I have seen reviews that are negative about the book, but all I try to remember is, it’s not REALLY for us adults, so read it almost as a child. I wish these books had been around when I was early teens. The fact that they show girls supporting each other and helping them become stronger is a positive message for me.

It is a magical story of a girl who pretends to be a princess just so the princess herself can feel safe. It has humour as well as showing just how important true friendship really is. How hard it can be to keep the friendship going when things get tough.

The character development is good. I loved the relationship between Lottie and Ellie, so sweet. I am sure there is more to come from them. Jamie, I liked too, but I do hope we get to see more of him as the series develops. Sometimes, I thought some of the characters felt a little flat; maybe just needed more of an edge to them to make them more dangerous, specifically the enemies.

This magical story doesn’t just include teen drama and romances, but there is also a mystery, too. A book I wouldn’t worry about about my teen reading. I enjoyed it and am looking forward to reading more from the series.

Author Bio

Connie Glynn

Connie Glynn has always loved writing and wrote her first story when she was six, with her mum at a typewriter acting as her scribe. She had a love for performing stories from a young age and attended Guildhall drama classes as a teenager. This passion for stories has never left her, and Connie recently finished a degree in film theory.

It was at university that Connie started her hugely successful YouTube channel Noodlerella (named after her favourite food and favourite Disney princess). After five years of publicly documenting her life and hobbies to an audience of 900,000 subscribers on YouTube, Connie closed the book on the Noodlerella project in a bid for more privacy and to pursue her original passions in the performing arts. Connie now writes music and fiction full- time.
