Today, it’s the turn of Dig Your Own Grave from Carmen Radtke to feature on my blog. Thanks to ZooLoo’s Book Tours and Spellbound Books for my copy of this fabulous book to take part.

Marie Ingram is kind, generous, and lately, a killer …

When her childhood friend takes her own life to escape marital hell, Marie is devastated. But when the widower sets his eyes on a new wife, she knows what she has to do:

Make sure no other woman suffers the same fate.

Knowing she may not have long to live due to a serious illness, Marie considers this her parting gift to the world.

But doing good by breaking bad is a very easy habit to fall into, and there are plenty more evil people who seem to be untouchable by the law.

The question is, is Marie fast becoming irredeemable herself?

A cosy mystery read that is so well written by Carmen Radtke. An enjoyable and easy read that has a great plotline, too. I have read numerous books by this author and always enjoy her books. This one is no exception.

We meet Marie Ingram, who has returned to England after the death of her parents. She is living at her parents’ house, just counting time until she dies from the leukaemia that ravages her body. That is,  until her childhood friend kills herself to escape her abusive husband. Marie decides to hatch a plan…but does she go too far?

I was drawn to the cover and title of Dig Your Own Grave. The synopsis just intrigued me so much that I was raring to sit down and get started. I do like a cosy read at times, if only for a break from my more violent books on my pile. This book did entertain me, and I found I was enjoying myself too much to actually lea e the book for too long.

Carmen Radtke has cleverly woven suspense through the story, so you are always wanting more. This is a great ingredient for a mystery thriller. I always love a great, not too intense cosy read with a conclusion that brings a twist to the story.

Author Bio

Carmen Radtke

Carmen has spent most of her life with ink on her fingers and a dangerously high pile of books and newspapers by her side. She has worked as a newspaper reporter on two continents and always dreamt of becoming a novelist and screenwriter. When she found herself crouched under her dining table, typing away on a novel between two earthquakes in Christchurch, New Zealand, she realised she was hooked for life. The shaken but stirring novel made it to the longlist of the Mslexia competition, and her next book and first mystery, The Case Of The Missing Bride, was a finalist in the Malice Domestic competition in a year without a winner. Since then she has penned several more cozy mysteries, including the Jack and Frances series set in the 1930s. Carmen now lives in York, UK, with her human and her four-legged family.
