For my final post on the SpellBound International Women’s Festival book tour, it’s the turn of Linda Falco and Little White Doves. I must thank ZooLoo’s Book Tours and SpellBound Books for my invitation to this fantastic celebration of female fiction. I have loved being a part of it all.

NAPLES ITALY: 1937
A Young girl disappears without a trace

LONDON ENGLAND: 1971
A teenage boy doesn’t return home from School.

These two shocking events, three decades and hundreds of miles apart prove to be inexorably linked.

Amid their pain and turmoil, two broken women find the strength within themselves to fight back.

Two mothers who go to extraordinary lengths to protect their children.

Valbonna: Who sacrifices everything for her child.

Donna: Whose fight to find her son takes her on a dangerous journey through Italy uncovering secrets that will change her life forever.

I love discovering new authors, especially ones who write books that make a mark that you can’t forget easily. Linda Falco has done just that. Little White Doves is a family saga that doesn’t tiptoe around. 1937 Naples,Italy, a girl goes missing. 1971 London there is a missing boy. Linked together while being decades and countries apart. Wow, I wanted to find out what was next as I settled into this book.

So much suspense throughout this story, we meet Donna, whose son doesn’t  home after school at all. She sets out to find him and finds herself in Naples in Italy, the place her family originates from. In a strange place with no idea who her family is here or even who she can trust to help her, the things she does discover chill her to the bone.

The emotions of Donna are almost palpable as the plot develops. The fact that her life feels like it’s unravelling as her son is missing and she now feels like her whole life has been a web of secrets and lies. Her journey to Naples to search for her son leaves her alone and having to deal with everything herself.

I was gripped with the need to know what’s happened and why. I loved the twistiness of the plot. Linda Falco kept me guessing right until the end. Valbonna’s story broke my heart,so harrowing. No matter what always put her daughter first. She has been literally to hell and back again.

A story of two women connected in a way that you couldn’t imagine. Both are strong and willing to go as far as needed in order to protect their child. The very centre of this story is family and the fact that it takes more than blood to actually be truly a family.

A heartbreaking book that had me in its grip from beginning to the end. Even with the tough issues the author brings… I had to find out everything before I let this book go. One I won’t forget in a hurry.
