The prologue just grabs you and the book doesn’t let you go at all. I love a shocking start to a book. It sets the tone of the story, I felt for Charlene from the first page of this twisty psychological thriller.
A widow who has become a recluse since her husband’s death. She has slipped into her own world, one that’s depressive and negative. Three years later, she meets Samuel online. The perfect gentleman,until they meet in person and then she begins to doubt him and question everything.
I love an unreliable narrator and we have one in Charlene. A woman who lives in her head and so do we for this story. She is totally housebound and her only contact with the outside world are her therapist and Selina, her online friend. They both continually attempt to get her to venture outside her own house but it seems she isn’t ready to face it yet. Then comes the day she is, well read it and you will see.
Samuel seems to be everything she wants way too perfect for my vision of a man. He started showing his true colours as the story unfolded. The characters all play their unique part and are carefully crafted to feel real. I must say I was second guessing a lot of these characters in this book and I loved that.
This is a slow burn type of story, as the scenes are set with Charlene and her mental state. As the plot drives forward so does the pace, and with it the twists and turns. Before too long the conclusion was looming and I marveled at the twist in the tale.

He grew up in New York, where there crime was all around. He decided to turn that into something positive with his fiction.
