The first in a new series of police procedurals, the DI Vincent Sullivan series. The Wives of Crimson Avenue is set in the small town of Applehurst. Vincent Sullivan and his wife have moved to have a quieter life away from the Metropolitan police. He has been put with DS Josephine Jenkins who previously worked the Serious Crime Squad. None of them expect to have their quieter life suddenly snatched away by events that include kidnap, vigilantes, a missing person, arson and oh such more!
What happens when a group of women decide to take on the role of being vigilantes to try to get rid of the local drug dealers? Well, certainly more than they expected.
A woman is abducted of the street and Adele Love is sent a strange message. Sullivan and Jenkins realise something is not right and begin to investigate. This sends the women into complete panic. Will the police be able to find the woman do Adele and her friends know anything?
A complex and fast paced storyline which does keep the intrigue and suspense pretty high. As the secrets begin to unravel the twists and turns become pretty intense, pretty quick. It just goes to prove that what seems to be perfect really isn’t once you begin to scratch the surface.
A character driven story with well written, and very interesting characters. I could easily see how their lives, and the secrets they kept along the way made them them who they were.
A really good start to a series that I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next for Sullivan and Jenkins. If it’s as realistic and authentic as this book I am happy.
