Sarah Daniel’s Debut Young Adult Dystopian novel, The Stranded, is a book I am lucky enough to have been able to read. I could not refuse to read it because the blurb itself hooked me immediately.
A luxury cruise liner, abandoned and anchored off the US Coast, which is now reinvented as the Federated States. With the reinvention comes harsher and stricter ruled, and Arcadia’s guests find themselves Stranded with no escape.
I may be what the young adults call ‘old’, but I have discovered a love for young adult fiction. Over the last few years, I have noticed the increasing quality of YA fiction. The Stranded is one of those books. There is drama, in spades. The tension and atmosphere almost pour of the pages as the story unfolds.
Told from multiple viewpoints, Nik, Esther, and Hadley. Nik is sixteen and is attempting to help free The Arcadia. Esther just wants to study to be a doctor but ends up getting involved in the rebellion Nik is trying to set up.
A dystopian novel that I found myself so wrapped up in that I couldn’t put it down…at all! I am very pleased that I have The Exiled, which is the next book to read. A cracking debut!
